Department Overview

Advertising Sales Department

The Advertising Sales Department is dedicated to providing Rakuten Group's "Marketing Solutions" to advertisers. Our unique strength lies in combining three key pillars:

Rakuten Data: Leveraging data from approximately 100 million Rakuten Member IDs.
Rakuten Media Network: Utilizing over 70 diverse Rakuten services as media channels.
Cutting-edge AI Technology: Integrating the latest AI advancements.
Through this powerful combination, we function as a sales organization focused on solving advertisers' challenges and driving their success.

This Position: Sales Planning Section within the Advertising Sales Department

This role is situated within the Sales Planning Section of the Advertising Sales Department. Your primary mission will be to maximize the sales revenue of our sales organization through robust sales performance management and analysis.

Key Responsibilities & Impact:

This position goes beyond mere data collection. You will be instrumental in ensuring the achievement of our sales KGI (Key Goal Indicators) and KPI (Key Performance Indicators) by:

Data Analysis: Conducting in-depth analysis of sales data.
Insight Generation: Extracting actionable insights and providing strategic recommendations.
Execution Support: Supporting the implementation of strategies derived from your analysis.
You will contribute to the organization in two critical ways:

Strategic Advisor: Acting as a ""strategist"" who supports the decision-making processes of our executive management and department heads.
Productivity Driver: ""Building systems"" and processes that enhance the productivity of our sales teams on the ground.

As Sales Planning Section, we are responsible for the operation of Ad Sales Department. Specifically, we have three key roles:

Sales Management: We design, manage, and support the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the sales organization.
Sales Promotion: We handle the introduction of sales management tools, human resource development, and meeting operations, among other tasks.
Business Promotion: We are responsible for executing critical initiatives within the Rakuten Group.

Role Overview

Sales Planning (Sales Management Team)
As a Sales Planner within Rakuten's Advertising Sales Department, you will specifically join the Sales Management Team. Your pivotal role will be that of a "Strategist" (参謀), providing crucial support for decision-making to our executive leadership and department heads.

Key Responsibilities
You will be entrusted with a comprehensive range of sales planning duties, primarily focusing on the following:

- Reporting & Presentation Development: Creating impactful reports and presentations (using PowerPoint) for Executive Officers and Sales Department Heads.
- Data Aggregation, Analysis & Reporting: Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on sales figures, KPIs, and other key metrics (using Excel and BI tools).
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Synthesis: Coordinating and synthesizing reporting content by collaborating with the Sales Department and multiple other relevant departments.
- Meeting Facilitation: Leading and facilitating overall department meetings and regular review meetings.
- Process Improvement: Developing, proposing improvements for, and documenting sales operational workflows.

Key Stakeholders
You will regularly interact and collaborate with the following stakeholders:
- Executive Leadership / Sales Department Heads / Section Managers: Providing decision-making support and delivering comprehensive reports.
- Sales Team Members (On-site): Aggregating sales figures, providing analytical results, and offering actionable insights.

Work Environment

Organizational Structure
The entire Advertising Sales Department comprises approximately 60 members.
As of January 2026, it consists of the following sections:

- Sales Section
- Sales Planning Section (where this position is located)
- Operations Section
- Data Planning Section
- The Sales Planning Section, where this specific position resides, currently has 7 members (as of January 2026).

Mandatory Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience.

- Proactive and self-driven, capable of identifying challenges independently and taking initiative.

- Comfortable with cross-departmental coordination and facilitating meetings.

One or more of the following:

- Adept at organizing numerical data and facts, and communicating them clearly and concisely.
- Practical experience in data aggregation and organization using Excel.
- Strong proficiency in creating presentations using PowerPoint.

Desired Qualifications:

While not strictly required, candidates with the following experiences will be highly regarded:

- Experience in Sales Planning, Business Planning, or Corporate Planning.
- Experience in numerical management, KPI design, and business process improvement.
- Project management experience.
- Work experience in environments involving multiple departments or cross-functional teams."
