Role Overview
- Serve as a key manager within the finance and accounting function, overseeing multiple business units and a back-office division.
- Strategically lead and execute Accounts Receivable-related transformation projects.
- Deliver solutions that enhance financial efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of robust internal controls to ensure compliance with group-level rules and regulations.
- Proactively identify and propose operational improvements to optimize finance processes.
Responsibilities
Accounting Operations Management & Process Improvement
- Lead and develop a team of four AR professionals, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimize Order-to-Cash and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Analyze existing Order-to-Cash and AR workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement optimized processes using best practices and appropriate technology to drive operational excellence.
- Develop, maintain, and update process documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Promote continuous improvement through regular knowledge-sharing sessions and by consolidating best practices and common issues within the team.
Project Leadership & Management
- Lead the planning, execution, and closure of finance and accounting projects, including system implementations, system upgrades, process re-engineering initiatives, and new policy rollouts.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Manage project teams, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Drive change management initiatives to support smooth adoption of new systems and processes.
System Implementation & Optimization
- Oversee the implementation, configuration, and integration of financial systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams, external vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure system stability, data integrity, and seamless functionality.
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements and automation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial operations.
Stakeholder Communication & Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across functions.
- Communicate project progress, risks, challenges, and achievements clearly and effectively.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and meetings to gather requirements, present solutions, and ensure stakeholder alignment.
Profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- An MBA or relevant Master's degree is a plus.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, audit, or finance roles, including at least 3 years in a project management or transformation role.
- Proven track record of leading successful finance and accounting system implementations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP / IFRS) and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement and change management.
- Proficiency with financial systems and project management tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the retail or consumer-related industry.
- Knowledge of automation tools and technologies relevant to finance and accounting.
- Professional certifications in accounting or project management are a plus.
Language
- Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English.
