Job title – Senior Scientist, Regional Science APAC, HNC (Part-time)

The Senior Scientist, HNC Regional Science, Japan is responsible for executing the Japan scientific agenda for the HNC organization, in alignment with business priorities. The must wins for HNC are innovation, premix, market ready solutions (MRS) and defending the core portfolio. Senior Scientist will work closely with regional and local regulatory affairs to drive functional food claim (FFC) applications.
The individual also assists in the deployment of scientific concepts, generated by global teams to the Japan Market for the APAC Health, Nutrition & Care (HNC) organization. This individual must be able to function well on cross-functional teams and within a matrixed, international organization.
Your Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the management of Functional Food Claim (FCC) applications and health claim applications in close partnership with the Regulatory Affairs team
• Manage engagement of external consultants where required
• Prepare and provide documentation in supporting customers' FCC applications in Japan
• Responsible for engagement and relationship management with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in Japan
• Build a close partnership and regular communication with relevant local industry associations and represent dsm-firmenich at nutritional conferences mainly Japan Affiliation Of Health Food Associations (JAOHFA) and Association of International Food and Nutrition (AIFN)
• In partnership with the Regional Science team, provide the translation of science at discussions with customers

You Bring

• Educational level: Masters or PhD degree in Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent through experience. 8 years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with the health claim system in Japan, especially in Functional Food Claim (FCC) applications and health claim applications. A sound understanding of Dietary Supplement industry in Japan
• Ability to interact effectively with industry partners and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) from the Nutrition industry
• Experience in translating scientific information to marketing campaigns and solutions
• A team player with the ability to collaborate across business groups, regions and departments and to establish strong relationships with key external stakeholders. Strong ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
• Proven capability to work transversally and independently and delivery of business impact.
• Excellent communication and a good command of English
