Do you want to be part of one of the most innovative and exciting programs in Amazon Japan? We have a unique Business Intelligence Engineer opportunity to own the data and analytics strategy for two greenfield programs within Consumables that is backed by senior executives.
These new programs related to Beauty and Health & Personal Care industry will require the BIE to support with the launch and growth of various initiatives through designing and building data insights for the business.
We are searching for a BIE who can take the lead on multiple data projects, navigate complex infrastructure, build scale and efficiency through data tools and analytics, exercise business judgment to evaluate trade-offs, and influence program strategy and prioritization.
This role demands a high capacity to Learn and Be Curious, Invent and Simplify, and Right A Lot as we need to be continually adapting to the fast-moving business, changing requirements and priorities and establishing mechanisms to improve efficiencies.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with various local and global cross-functional teams across multiple organizations, including program, product, category, marketing, sales, tech, and engineers.
The successful candidate will enjoy working with data, implementing scalable data pipelines, wear many hats and work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly collaborative environment that's like a startup.

A BIE of the JP Consumables team is a role where there are no textbook solutions to the problems that we need to solve.
To succeed in this role, you will be comfortable to perform multiple large, complex, and business-critical tools to drive best practices and set standards for the rest of the organization.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, consistently think in terms of automation, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus to drive strategy in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
Role Expectations:
- Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated data pipelines and reporting that will support our business needs
- Perform campaign analysis to evaluate effectiveness and conduct Downstream Impact analysis
- Own the delivery of automated and streamlined business reviews
- Partner with local business/program and tech teams to consult, develop and implement KPI's, automated reporting solutions and data infrastructure improvements to meet business needs
- Work closely with global Data Engineering and BI teams to keep updated with company wide tech implementation and migration activities.
- Apply your deep analytic and business intelligence skill to extract meaningful insight and learning from large and complicated data sets to help inform investment decisions.
This role belongs to product and program management team in JP Consumables that focuses on new initiatives and business launch and operations.
Team members are expected to deal with ambiguity, insist on the highest standard, and drive local and global stakeholders towards goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
- Business level of English and Conversational level of Japanese
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
