Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Offshore Wind Solutions Technical Lead
to support offshore wind projects in Japan and international markets. This role combines
technical leadership, system engineering, product strategy, and customer engagement
, working closely with sales, project, and engineering teams.
The position is highly collaborative and customer-facing, requiring strong technical depth as well as the ability to operate confidently in a
Japanese business environment
.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse global and regional offshore wind market requirements, including wind resources, regulatory frameworks, customer needs, and competitive landscapes
- Define wind turbine product roadmaps, configurations, and technical feature requirements aligned with market demands
- Act as lead or co-lead system engineer for wind turbine product development activities
- Support project teams by analysing site-specific wind conditions and customer requirements to define optimal turbine solutions (turbine models, layouts, site suitability, and energy yield assessments)
- Collaborate with commercial, sales, and technical teams to define bid strategies and support pricing decisions
- Lead technical workshops and system-level discussions with customers and key stakeholders
- Support resolution of complex technical issues during project execution and field operations
Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline
- 10+ years' experience
in the global wind industry, ideally within technical solution, system engineering, or product development roles - Strong technical understanding of wind turbine systems and wind farm design
- Business-level Japanese language ability
(spoken and written) required for customer communication and internal coordination - Fluent English
communication skills (written and verbal) - Proven ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional, international teams
- Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment
- Valid permission to work in Japan
(existing work visa or permanent residency) - Willingness to travel internationally (approximately
30%
)
