Responsibilities
The JP Controllership team, led by the JP Financial Controller, will own all controllership activities in Japan. The JP Financial Controller will oversee month-end close under US GAAP, ensure J-GAAP compliance, and drive process improvements, including strong balance sheet management. This role requires close collaboration with FP&A, Finance Business Partners, and the Controlling Ops team, while serving as a key member of the local finance leadership.
□Financial Reporting / Compliance / Accounting
- Support and coordinate month-end close and variance analysis.
- Review P&L, balance sheet, key reconciliations, and cash flow forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, J-GAAP, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee statutory filings, audits (statutory/tax/VAT/internal), and manage tax advisors.
- Approve key journal entries.
□Management
- Lead JP Controlling function and team, working with Corporate Finance, FP&A, and Ops.
- Ensure timely MEC, support issue resolution, and improve service standards.
- Manage AR/AP reporting, expense processes, tax compliance, banking, OTC operations, and support FCF goals.
□Process Improvement
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliation quality and follow-up actions.
- Lead initiatives to improve cash flow and reporting accuracy.
- Contribute to standardization of policies, controls, and systems.
- Support global/local finance projects and drive system/process enhancements.

Qualifications
-Business level written and verbal English, professional level Japanese.
-Qualified accountant (CCAB, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with PQE, ideally as a Financial Controller or relevant in a previous role.
-Technically strong and analytical finance professional; strong knowledge and expertise of both US GAAP for the purpose of month end close reporting as well as J-GAAP for statutory financial statements.
-Strong understanding and practical experience in internal and external audit.
-Good working knowledge of direct and indirect tax including corporation tax, VAT and WHT.
-Practical and hands on experience implementing and/or monitoring internal control systems; internal
