Lakeland University Japan (LUJ) is a liberal arts institution offering Bachelor's and Associate of Arts Degree programs to a diverse student body of over 400 students representing 40+ countries.
Established in 1991, LUJ is fully accredited and recognized in Japan.In addition to core academic programs, LUJ provides an English for Academic Purposes program for non-native English speakers and offers continuing education courses during evenings and weekends.
The institution emphasizes Experiential Education, combining academic knowledge with practical, real-world experiences through internships and its Cooperative Education program. This approach enhances students' understanding by applying their learning in professional settings.Role Description
This is a full-time, contract teaching position located on-site at the LUJ campus in Tokyo, Japan.
Faculty members are responsible for conducting lectures, preparing course materials, evaluating student performance, and fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Additional responsibilities include mentoring students, participating in curriculum development, engaging in departmental and institutional initiatives, and contributing to faculty meetings and academic events.
Faculty members are expected to support LUJ's mission of experiential learning by incorporating real-world applications into their teaching.Qualifications
Expertise in relevant subject areas and the ability to deliver engaging, well-prepared, and dynamic lectures.
Excellent teaching, mentoring, and communication skills, with the capacity to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Experience in curriculum development, academic planning, and using innovative teaching methods.
Familiarity with integrating experiential education approaches, such as internships or practical applications, into academic instruction.
Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline; teaching experience in higher education is highly preferred.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative and culturally diverse team.
Proficiency or familiarity with Japanese language and culture is an advantage but not mandatory.
