Data Engineer – Manufacturing AI Data Platform (Japan)
A fast-growing tech company is building an AI-driven data platform for the manufacturing industry. Launched in 2022, the product structures and connects complex manufacturing data using machine learning, enabling companies to treat it as a reusable data asset. The platform is already used by large manufacturers and is expanding internationally.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and operating the data infrastructure that supports analytics, machine learning, and business use cases. You will work across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and pipelines to modeling, governance, and enabling data usage across teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate data warehouses, data lakes, and batch processing systems
- Build and improve data pipelines in collaboration with algorithm and product teams
- Lead data initiatives that contribute directly to business improvements
- Establish data governance, access control, and data quality standards
Requirements
- Experience building and operating data platforms (DWH, data lakes, data marts)
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Business-level Japanese (N2 level or equivalent)
Nice to have
- ETL/workflow tools (e.g., Airflow), IaC (Terraform), CI/CD
- Large-scale data processing, BI tools (Looker, Tableau), or infra/SRE experience
- Business-level English
Compensation & work style
- Salary range:
¥9M–¥13M - Full-time, remote-first (office optional)
- Flextime (core hours 11:00–16:00)
