Department Overview
The Employee Engagement Department's (EED) mission is securing all employees' well-being by aligning individual dreams & ideas with Rakuten's mission and strategies.
EED has four main responsibilities, spread across four main functions: To secure the expansion of Rakuten Shugi, to promote Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), to build a solid Employer Brand, and to conduct research and development in the field of Corporate Culture.
As part of the 4 main functions within EED, the Marketing and Communication Section aims to enhance Rakuten's employer brand internally and externally through digital marketing and strategic communications.
The mission of the Marketing and Communication Section is to enhance and positively influence the company's employer brand image as an attractive place to work for current and future employees through strategic marketing and branding. Our intent is for all future and current Rakutenians to enjoy working at Rakuten.

Position Details
The Marketing & Communication section functions as a communications hub for all corporate culture related topics to provide relevant support for business units and corporate functions to strengthen Rakuten Group's employer branding.
As the Employer Branding Strategist of Marketing and Communication Section under Employee Engagement Department (EED), you will be working cross-functionally to provide communication consulting and strategy planning support to strengthen and broaden Rakuten's corporate culture narratives to attract, engage and retain top talent. You will be responsible for:
Cross-functional communication strategy, liaison and execution with relevant stakeholders (GHR/RNN/PRD/MKD) to promote Rakuten's employer value proposition
Execution based on communication strategy
Accelerate Rakuten's thought leadership in the corporate culture field through PR initiatives including assistance with speaking engagements and tie-up with local and global media publications
Strategy creation on how to build, create and promote Rakuten's employer brand to potential hires and existing employees through engaging content planning and campaigns based on Rakuten's key cultural themes including the Rakuten Shugi, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB), Sustainability and Wellbeing.
Negotiating and liaising with BUs and corporate functions to plan value-added campaigns to engage Rakuten employees to accelerate the employee experience
Creation of marketing and branding collaterals for internal and external purposes in English and Japanese
Support with adhoc administrative tasks
Managing analytics and reports to measure the effectiveness of internal and external employer branding initiatives and planning prompt alternatives to ensure maximum continuous growth of Rakuten's employer brand
Research trends and spot issues to solve to identify opportunities

Mandatory Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
Demonstrated track record of 3-5 years in marketing communication strategy (in-house or agency), marketing management, or a similar role
Fluency in both written and spoken English
Business-level proficiency in Japanese (N1 level)
Exceptional project management skills, capable of overseeing projects from inception to completion within strict timelines
Outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written, along with adept documentation skills
Strong analytical capabilities
Proven track record in creating marketing communication strategies that drive high engagement and enhance affinity towards Rakuten as an employer
Previous experience in managing a small team.
