I'm Max , the Founder and CEO. As we continue to pioneer the e-commerce landscape between Japan and the global market, we're seeking multiple product-focused, highly experienced full-stack engineers to join us in our ambitious growth plans.
What we do
White Rabbit Japan is working to elevate e-commerce between Japanese sellers and overseas buyers. At the core of this effort are our Japan Rabbit and Blackship products. Japan Rabbit makes buying from Japan hassle-free for thousands of people and businesses worldwide. Blackship makes forwarding packages from Japan faster and easier for businesses and individuals.

As a Staff Engineer at White Rabbit, you will:
- Own the architecture, quality, maintainability, and scalability of entire areas of our products from idea to production and beyond.
- Design and implement systems and integrations that align our operational, financial, and commercial platforms.
- Define and oversee engineering best practices, technical standards, sustainability guidelines, and the long-term technology roadmap.
- Elevate the engineering bar, instilling a mindset of high-quality coding, thorough testing, and efficient deployment, as well as evaluation and adoption of emerging industry trends
- Collaborate with the organization's founder and team members on problem-solving and feature design.
- Support our operations team by rapidly addressing urgent ops issues when required.
- Maintain multiple products, including customer-facing surfaces, backend systems, databases, micro-services, third-party APIs, and hardware devices.
Minimum Qualifications
You have 8+ years of engineering experience with demonstrable growth and skills in:
- Working in a high-growth tech startup environment
- Expert-level Nodejs and at least one other stack/language
- UI frameworks such as Vue or React
- Data modeling and complex relational database design with advanced SQL
- GCP, AWS, Azure, or similar cloud computing platforms (we use GCP).
- Remote work experience and excellent written communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Hasura, GraphQL.
- Knowledge of security-by-design.
- Experience with e-commerce-related operational and financial systems
- Experience with implementing AI agents, assistants, and APIs both for day-to-day work and for product integrations
- Technical leadership and coaching/mentoring experience
