Senior Producer, Short-Form Drama (Japan) at ReelShorts

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high-quality production that accurately reflects scripts, managing all phases from on-set supervision to post-production to guarantee smooth execution and creative integrity.
  • Oversee production budgets, cost control, and vendor payment processes, ensuring delivery meets quality and project objectives within budget.
  • Independently or collaboratively lead pre-production planning, shooting schedules, on-site management, casting coordination, post-production supervision, and external communication.
  • Track production progress to ensure timely, high-standard delivery; troubleshoot issues across all project stages.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, maintaining strong alignment with production companies, talent agencies, and cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor international short-form drama trends and incorporate market data into production and creative strategies to optimize content performance.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with major Japanese talent agencies and ensure smooth collaboration on cast-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above preferred. Strong proficiency in Japanese and either English or Chinese; trilingual ability is a strong plus.
  • 10+ years production experience in Japanese TV broadcasters or major OTT platforms (e.g. Netflix Japan, Amazon Prime Video Japan).
  • Hands-on experience writing and producing localized scripts; ability to lead end-to-end content delivery as full project owner.
  • Experience in short dramas, web dramas, or micro-dramas is highly preferred; candidates with successful project track records strongly desired.
  • Solid knowledge of Japanese entertainment industry workflows and established relationships with major talent agencies.
  • Strong creative judgment and sensitivity to popular culture, especially wxmen-targeted storytelling and consumer trends.
  • Able to work under pressure, adapt to fast-paced environments, and travel overseas when required.
