Nature and aim of the position
This is a field sales position with the responsibility of winning and acquiring new merchants and stores.

As part of the merchant acquisition process, this position is responsible to build partnership, and creating the preconditions for the merchants to deliver the best performance in term of Tax Free Shopping Experience.

Main duties and responsibilities


  • Act as a single point of contact with the prospects and orchestrate internal stakeholders to be able to close the deal (Sign off the contract).
  • Key objective of gaining a portfolio of new merchants (HQ & Stores)
  • Develop merchant acquisition strategy and plan for high priority prospects
  • Build multi-level relations with C-Suites, Finance, Store Operations, Marketing, Training, IT teams, etc
  • Lead the consultation of store operation, finance process, tourist experience improvement with regulation change and propose the best solution for each prospect
  • Create and process the business case for each merchant proposal
  • Cross selling of Global Blue services (Marketing, Business Intelligence, Payment Services, etc)
  • Improve merchants' knowledge and expertise with all GB services to maximize performance
  • Suggest and propose new ideas and initiatives to management for merchant acquisition strategy
  • Identify and convert prospects into GB merchants at profitable levels
Background and Education


  • Min 5 years' of proven and successful sales or merchant acquisition experience
  • Experience from Retail and/or Hospitality is preferred
Specific skills and knowledge


  • Fluent in Japanese
  • Solution provider, establish partnership and ability to create trust and personal relationship
  • Good consultative selling and strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills – ability to effectively and efficiently communicate complex information to all levels of the organization. Excellent networking skills
  • Ability to handle confrontation well – doesn't shy away from tough conversations, displays emotional intelligence, remains approachable
  • Highly organised and able to effectively manage conflicting and competing priorities.
  • Strong ability to deliver presentation and with excellent presentation skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and CRM (Salesforce)
