Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support data centre construction activities in Japan. This role will provide both strategic and hands-on EHS leadership across project sites, ensuring compliance with local regulations while aligning with global EHS standards and company expectations. The successful candidate will play a key role in embedding a strong safety culture within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage EHS activities across construction projects, ensuring compliance with local legislation, industry standards, and internal requirements.
- Provide guidance and oversight on safe work practices throughout all phases of project delivery, including construction, commissioning, and building services activities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain risk assessments, EHS management plans, and site procedures.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and incident investigations, and track corrective actions to completion.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance, trends, and improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to promote a proactive and culturally aligned safety culture.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an EHS management or leadership role within construction, infrastructure, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of EHS regulatory frameworks and practical application in a project-based environment.
- Experience working in complex, high-risk construction settings; exposure to data centres, building services, or commissioning activities is advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to operate effectively in multicultural teams.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to broader regional and global objectives.
- Fluency in Japanese and English is highly desirable.
