Join a high-impact engagement supporting a Japan-based finance team during a leadership transition. Project Overview:
We are supporting a client's finance function through the secondment of an interim Finance Director to bridge the gap between the outgoing leader and a future permanent hire. The finance department is operational but under pressure due to high transaction volumes and tight reporting timelines. The interim director will oversee approvals, compliance, and reporting, while also improving documentation and supporting budgeting processes.
Your involvement in the project will be carried out as an independent subcontractor.

Scope of Services
Operational Continuity & Oversight
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close and reporting processes
- Analyze financial results and prepare executive-level presentations for internal and HQ stakeholders
- Facilitate receivable collections and manage working capital and cash flow
- Ensure timely approvals and reporting to US HQ, aligned with internal deadlines
General Accounting & Collaboration
- Oversee all aspects of internal financial reporting
- Partner with global corporate teams including FP&A, Treasury, A/P, A/R, Tax, and Financial Reporting
Tax & Compliance
- Manage preparation and administration of income and consumption tax returns
- Provide oversight on transfer pricing matters and ensure compliance with Japanese tax regulations
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Improve documentation of director-level tasks and workflows
- Support budgeting process and timeline management, including coordination with department heads
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with local finance team and US HQ (monthly meetings and reporting)
Qualifications
- Strong experience in Japanese accounting and tax, especially consumption tax
- Familiarity with multiple accounting systems and ability to adapt to new tools
- Fluent in Japanese; business-level English for HQ communication
- Comfortable working in hybrid environments with limited documentation
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership in transitional settings
