Department Overview
This position belongs to our Media Business, which operates "an everyday media offering small benefits and fun" visited by over 10 million unique users monthly. Its mission is to "accompany daily life" as a touchpoint for Rakuten users within our marketing-related businesses, encompassing point media, news, and lifestyle information.

Within the Media Business, we not only operate our own media properties but also plan, operate, and support the sales of advertising products that combine the entire Rakuten Group's media with Rakuten's data and point assets.

Leveraging Rakuten's data, our digital flyer service is highly regarded by a wide range of industries, including retail and restaurants, as a solution that visualizes advertising effectiveness, which was previously difficult to measure.

With rapid growth, acquiring new customer segments and providing further value to existing customers have become urgent priorities.

Our current sales structure is unable to promptly respond to new customer requests, potentially leading to the loss of significant business opportunities.

Furthermore, for existing customers, we need to maximize customer satisfaction and LTV (Lifetime Value) by providing more detailed support and proactive problem-solving proposals.

Therefore, we are now recruiting Consulting Sales professionals to achieve further business growth.

Position Details
As a Sales professional for our SaaS platform service for retailers, you will engage in acquiring new member stores and providing consulting services to participating member stores.

  • Sales activities aimed at acquiring new member stores.
  • Consultation services to maximize effectiveness for member stores.
  • Sales activities for web advertisements to retailers and manufacturers, and development of advertising products.
  • Collection, analysis, reporting of various performance data, and creation of proposal materials.
  • Proposal and execution of measures for maximizing effectiveness based on data.
  • Conception and execution of cross-functional initiatives in collaboration with other Rakuten Group services.

You will conduct sales activities for acquiring new member stores and provide consulting to implement DX (Digital Transformation) and O2O (Online-to-Offline) measures tailored to each company through our digital flyer media. This applies not only to daily necessities retailers like supermarkets and drugstores but also to businesses with physical stores such as restaurants and fashion brands.

The Rakuten Group possesses numerous services closely related to retailers, including payment services like Rakuten Points, Edy, and Rakuten Pay, as well as e-commerce platforms like Rakuten Ichiba and Rakuten Fashion.

You will be able to plan, propose, and execute measures to promote store visits and purchases using payment services utilized by retailers. This position offers the ability to provide value to retailers that differs from conventional web media, and to perform advertising effectiveness and purchase measurement, which were previously considered difficult, using Rakuten data. Since online advertising for offline businesses is a growing domain, you can also be involved in developing new advertising products and service designs through your sales activities.

As this is an expanding service, the scope of responsibility for each team and member is broad, allowing you to work with a sense of unity and speed akin to a startup.

Please note that communication with customers and employees involved in service operations will primarily be in Japanese.

We hope you will take the initiative to significantly grow this new business by leveraging Rakuten Group's assets and deploying Rakuten-like solutions.

Work Environment
Sales and Operations functions belong to the same organization, with a composition of 70% Sales and 30% Operations.

Furthermore, we work in close proximity to the Product, Marketing, and Data Analytics teams, engaging in daily communication and executing our tasks with a strong sense of shared destiny.

Our team has a relatively high proportion of new graduates, and we boast a rich talent pool ranging from veterans with over 10 years of service to younger members.

Mid-career hires come from diverse backgrounds, including IT, advertising agencies, and manufacturers.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of working experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in web advertising sales or web marketing
  • Basic understanding of web services
  • Excel skills (PIVOT table, VLOOKUP, etc.)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in team management.
  • Experience in retail sales.
  • Experience in working at or dealing with advertising agencies.
  • Experience in sales to manufacturers of daily necessities, etc.
  • Data analysis skills (SQL, Python, etc.).
  • Good balance of business perspective and data analysis skills.
