Sales Representative Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our team in Japan. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with bar suppliers and on-premise outlets, driving sales growth and trade execution within your territory.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the on-premise channel within your territory and each customer's business and goals.
  • Utilize data & insight effectively to highlight opportunities and threats to the business and drive business decisions.
  • Build and manage mutually beneficial relationships with bar suppliers and on-premise outlets.
  • Prioritize on-premise outlets to target and develop, negotiate, and execute territory & customer plans, including discounts & rebates, motivation programs, promotions, and visibility & activations programs to achieve sales, distribution and trade execution goals.
  • Aquire and develop new accounts for our brands, maintain and strengthen day-to-day relationships with priority customers, attend relevant account events, and coordinate training of account management and staff through tastings and presentations.
  • Manage the client mix and portfolio of active accounts, develop accurate forecasts, and allocate trade investments and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of trade programs to drive profitable business growth.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial Strategy & Operations, Trade Marketing, and other cross-functional partners, and communicate transparently with stakeholders regarding issues & opportunities, plans, performance, and learning.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of sales or marketing experience
  • Good business acumen and social networking skills
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Ability to build productive internal and external relationships with support from his/her manager and get buy-in for business recommendations
  • Collaborative team player with strong conflict management skills
  • Adaptable, driven, flexible and resilient
  • Persuasive communication skills (influencing, listening, presenting, writing); able to explain sales results in a clear and concise manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Alcohol industry experience with knowledge of trade margins and rebates, particularly in the premium and super-premium imported spirits industry (wholesalers and on-premise outlets)
  • On-premise sales or marketing experience in the food & beverage industry in Japan with good knowledge and relationships with bar suppliers
  • Experience working for a foreign company, especially a U.S. or European company
  • English language proficiency
