Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the Engineering teams (Project management, System, Hardware, Software, Mechanical, New Product, and Cyber security & Functional safety) .
- Collaborate with the General Manager and the HR team to oversee the entire engineering organization in Japan (program management, mechanical, electrical, software, systems).
- Develop and implement technical strategies to achieve organizational goals.
- Work closely with senior management in Japan and headquarters to establish efficient and effective business processes.
- Develop business plans for the international market (market research for each customer and destination, gathering customer requirements, making proposals).
- Explore new business opportunities outside the domestic automotive industry (target industries: aerospace, medical, smart home, wearable devices).
- Support and review the creation of detailed designs and related documents necessary for projects.
- Keep abreast of new technologies, architecture, manufacturing processes, and applications for the automotive market.
- Support the Asian sales group in presentations defining new programs with J-OEMs.
- Review the RFQ (Request for Quotation) process through the Engineering Department.

Requirements
- 10+ years of development experience in any engineering (electrical, software, systems engineering, mechanical etc.) in the automotive industry
- 3+ years of experience with Toyota business
- Able to travel to headquarters (US)
- Able to build good relationships with domestic OEMs and travel for business visits
- Native-level Japanese, high-level business English (equivalent to TOEIC 800+)
- 5+ years of experience at a foreign-affiliated supplier (2-3years experience considerable.)
- 5+ years of people management experience with teams of 10+ members, or 5+ years of project management experience with projects of 20+ members (Candidates who possess fewer years of experience or have overseen smaller teams will still be considered acceptable.)
- Experience in development involving at least one of the following: Functional Safety (ISO26262), Cybersecurity (ISO preferred)
- Responsible products: electronic components (preferred)
