About the team you are joining

Reporting to the CountryManager - Japan, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting and executingIATA's activities in Japan, including the delivery of IATA's agenda and theachievement of the set objectives for the country.

What your day would be like

  • Support the delivery of IATA'sagenda in Japan;
  • In conjunction with the Country Manager, build andmaintain pro-active, professional and top management level relationships withmember airlines and other industry stakeholders, as well as with politiciansand government officials, in all relevant parts of the host government(s);
  • Support the Country Manager to actively advocate forand/or promote IATA's policies, positions, objectives, activities, services andproducts amongst airlines, governments, regional organisations and otherindustry stakeholders, and coordinate with the Country Manager regarding thelocal implementation of global projects, programmes and campaigns;
  • Monitor and report on aero-political, economic andcommercial developments in the country, taking or recommending actions which areconsistent with IATA's policies and objectives;
  • Working closely with the Country Manager, and given relevantmarket legislation, understand local ISS governance matters, includingunderstanding effective risk management rules for members' funds and the forecastingof ISS market trends and risks;
  • Support corporate fiscal, legal and regulatory compliancein Japan;
  • Coordinate and deliver, in conjunction with the CountryManager, commercial and business development activities, including monitoringthe market, selected customer profiles, competition trends and behaviours;
  • In close co-operation with the CountryManager, maintain good relationships and develop a coherent strategy in supportof IATA's objectives, programmes and policy positions, whilst coordinating withthe Regional Leadership Team regarding marketplace communications;
  • Lead the organisation of IATA's events in Japan andsupport the Country Manager in representing IATA at local and regional industryevents, and serve as a facilitator and host for visits of IATA's SeniorManagers and/or Subject Matter Experts; and
  • Any other responsibilities, as determined by the Country Manager.

    • We would love to hear from you if

  • have an University degree in BusinessAdministration, Political Science, or any other relevant discipline. Anadvanced University degree would be an asset.
  • Minimum of fifteen years of professional experience withat least five years of experience in a similar role. Proven experience inleading teams with exceptional talents for building relationships and managingprojects.
  • Well-developed negotiation and lobbying skills, andpossessing a high level of cultural intelligence.
  • Entrepreneurial flair, with a strong sense of commercialacumen. Prior experience in sales and marketing would be an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of information technology systems andtheir applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Japanese is essential whilstknowledge of other languages, including other regional languages, wouldconstitute an advantage.
