Business Overview
The Marketplace Business is responsible for operating Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten's founding e-commerce platform.

Established in 1997 along with Rakuten's founding, Rakuten Ichiba embodies Rakuten's mission to empower people and society through innovation. It has created a system where merchants in commerce can easily open shops, transcending geographical limitations and delivering the joy of shopping to customers throughout Japan.

Today, it has grown into one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan and is used by a large number of customers.

Department Overview
The Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department is responsible for planning and executing marketing strategies aimed at expanding sales for Rakuten Ichiba, one of Japan's largest online shopping malls with over 100 million registered members.

Within the Marketing Department, the Marketing Planning Office plays a crucial role as the department's think tank, responsible for cross-functional strategy development, data analysis, and investment allocation.

The mission of this position is to strengthen marketing strategies and achieve DX (Digital Transformation) for the medium- to long-term growth of Rakuten Ichiba, through business process improvement utilizing data, AI, and technology.

This involves using large volumes of data to visualize information for more efficient decision-making in a wide range of marketing activities, such as customer acquisition and nurturing. It also includes planning and driving projects to improve the efficiency of various user-facing operations.

This position offers the appealing opportunity to develop a broad range of marketing skills by working with the Marketing Department's overall data and the analytical tasks that utilize it.

Initially, you will deepen your understanding of marketing activities by focusing on improving the operational efficiency within the Marketing Department.

Position Details
To achieve strengthened marketing strategies for the medium- to long-term growth of Rakuten Ichiba, you will collaborate with business and development-related departments to promote business process improvement utilizing data, AI, and technology.

Due to the large scale of the business and the abundance of marketing actions and related data, this role offers the opportunity to gain diverse insights and easily feel a sense of contribution to the business.

Furthermore, under the mission of "improving productivity," you will be able to plan and promote highly flexible projects, unconstrained by specific areas, utilizing AI, programming languages such as Python, and even resources from the development department.

Example Projects

• Improving campaign business processes and planning and promoting campaign management systems.
• Planning and promoting automation projects for operational tasks using programs such as Python.
• Planning and promoting systems related to analytics, such as BI (Business Intelligence).
• Planning and promoting data utilization platform projects.
• Internal AI promotion project.

7 people (3 employees, 4 temporary employees and partner staff)

Human resources with the following experience / background are active (for example)

• Consultant at an IT consulting firm
• Engineer at a system integrator
• Sales planning for an electrical component manufacturer
• E-commerce store operator on an online marketplace
• New graduate (within 3 years of experience)

Skills
Mandatory Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience
• Experience creating documents using Excel functions (e.g., IF and VLOOKUP) in a professional setting
• Experience with business process improvement projects such as QCC (Quality Control Circle)

Desired Candidate Profile

• Individuals who can communicate effectively with other departments and facilitate constructive discussions.
• Individuals who can adapt flexibly to change.
• Individuals who are interested in data utilization, AI, and other DX-related technologies.

Desired Qualifications

• Project management experience.
• Experience in planning business process re-engineering (BPR).
• Marketing experience.
• Experience in data analysis using analytical tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics), SQL, Python, and R.
• Experience in improving operational efficiency using Python or Excel VBA.
• Experience in implementing and developing business intelligence (BI) analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, DOMO).
• Project experience involving big data and AI (machine learning, deep learning).
• Sales experience.
• Experience in the internet industry or e-commerce industry.
