Department Overview

Our mission is to maximize the value of sponsorships by leveraging the power of domestic and global sports & entertainment to achieve societal empowerment. With team members in Tokyo and Singapore, our global specialists closely collaborate with partner companies to foster the growth of the Rakuten brand, acquire sports & entertainment fans, and introduce Rakuten services.

Our mission is to contribute to the branding and business of the Rakuten Group as a whole, primarily through partnerships in domestic sports & entertainment. We aim to convert sports & entertainment fans into Rakuten fans by engaging in a variety of marketing activities, both online and offline.

Position Details

This position is in the department responsible for the Rakuten Group's overall branding strategy, where you will lead sponsorships in the sports and entertainment sectors. We are looking for ambitious and results-oriented managers or manager candidates who can play a crucial role in the management, planning, and implementation of marketing activations specialized in domestic sports & entertainment sponsorships.

You will manage a medium-sized organization responsible for planning and executing sports and entertainment activation projects, event planning and execution, measuring the effectiveness of sponsorship value, and proving ROI. Therefore, this position requires excellent communication skills for coordinating with teams, clubs, and Rakuten businesses, as well as skills in strategy and planning. We are also looking for individuals who are passionate about their work, possess creative thinking, and are capable of making swift adjustments as needed, considering the fast pace and trends of the market.

Mandatory Qualifications:

A passion for sports, not just as a fan, but also an interest in leveraging sports as a business

Over 5 years of experience in branding, agencies, or on the property side of sports and entertainment

Native in Japanese and business-level proficiency in English

Experience in managing small to medium-sized teams

Leadership experience in planning and implementing digital media campaigns and event activations (Experience solely in digital marketing is not sufficient )

Experience leading an organization to success through cooperation and support with agencies

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate and solve problems with senior management

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, adhere to deadlines, and manage and lead multiple projects concurrently

Ability to adapt flexibly in unpredictable situations and drive work forward with a goal-oriented approach

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in sports business-related operations

Experience in event-related operations
