The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Worldwide Financial Services team is looking for an experienced Financial Services Specialist (Capital Markets) to join our fast-paced team and help drive AWS adoption in the Financial Services industry in Japan.

As a Capital Markets Specialist, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team focused on increasing technology adoption of cloud computing by engaging with executives and influencers at all levels.

You will work closely with teams across AWS to build relationships with financial institutions, from FinTech startups to the largest global financial entities in the world.


Strategically, AWS Capital Markets Specialists seek to understand the needs of Capital Markets customers, the overall trends in the industries, how customers define success, and ensure that we are exceeding expectations in developing and delivering valued industry solutions.

Capital Markets Specialist play an active role in developing business cases, analyzing project goals, creating plans to achieve those goals, and then driving the AWS team members, stakeholders/SMEs and potentially other third-parties to achieve those goals while addressing industry-specific execution challenges.


Tactically, AWS Capital Markets Specialists are responsible for planning and leading business development initiatives through their understanding of their customers, their solutions, and the key solutions vendors and system integrators who deliver those solutions.

They leverage their management and leadership capabilities to identify and manage risks, resolve issues and escalate where appropriate to drive initiatives to successful completion.

Key job responsibilities


  • Create strategic business development plans for Capital Markets segment in Japan and ensure these plans are in line with the AWS strategic direction
  • Execute tactical business development plans while working closely with internal stakeholders including sales teams, solution architects, market development teams, professional services and support teams, legal and contract teams, and the AWS service teams
  • Serve as a member of the Financial Services Specialist team in helping to drive AWS marketing, sales, and technical strategies for the financial services industry
  • Participate in business case development, project goal creation and analysis, and in the creation of execution plans for achievement
  • Identify and manage risks, resolve issues, and escalate where appropriate to drive projects to successful completion
  • Understand the unique technical requirements of capital markets customers and work closely with the internal teams to guide the direction of our product offerings for our largest and most complex customers
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and resources
  • Understand and exploit the use of and other internal Amazon systems for campaign tracking and pipeline management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and manage all phases of a business development lifecycle to ensure successful delivery. This includes developing and managing project governance plans, project schedules, team goals and success criteria, and project milestones. Also includes ownership and responsibility to manage issues, risks, decisions and the overall success of a project.
  • Keen understanding of Capital Markets segment in Japan, the systems that customers use, the top workloads for moving to the cloud, and the top solutions vendors or system integrators in the industry and their offerings.
  • An ability to identify and clearly articulate the IT benefits and the business benefits associated with moving various systems to the cloud.
  • A team player who effectively integrates, motivates and builds relationships with crossfunctional team members, sponsors, key stakeholders, executives, and other individuals or organizations involved with or affected by the project.
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand the operating styles of others as well as team relationships, team dynamics, and adjusts behavior accordingly to succeed. Recognizes environmental or cultural nuances and adapts.
  • Ability to challenge, recommend and redirect teams as necessary for successful program and project delivery.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with team members and audiences of all levels. Plans and oversees the preparation and dissemination of project communications.
  • Fluent Japanese, and business level English language skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years Business Development / Engagement Management consulting experience managing enterprise level IT projects in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of leading independent solutions vendors (ISVs) and system integrators (SIs) in the Financial Services industries, especially those with repeatable solutions or offerings related to the systems used by capital markets customers
  • Team player willing to work in an international environment and be part of a global team
  • Proven experience working in a matrix environment, managing multiple stakeholders
  • Works effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking and demonstrate understanding of requirements to execute
  • Ability to make decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plan with limited guidance
  • Resultsoriented, prioritizes work activities, plans and stays organized in order to meet commitments
  • Excellent presentation, communication (oral & written), and relationship building skills, across all levels of management
