The Role

Infrastructure Specialist at Kyndryl

An Infrastructure Specialist at Kyndryl is a subject matter expert in project-based work across the entire infrastructure domain. They excel at delivering analysis, documenting and diagramming work for handover, providing timely solutions, and generally "figuring out what needs to be done." This is a hands-on role where sensing the interaction between systems and their environments is crucial for delivering value to every client.

This role has two key aspects. First, it involves engaging in current projects to analyze technical issues, propose solutions, test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. Second, it requires developing long-term, strategic plans for IT infrastructure and operations. Since the role is not limited to a specific platform, a broad knowledge across all platforms is essential. At Kyndryl, this means gaining diverse experiences and growth opportunities that are hard to find elsewhere.

You'll be involved early in the process to provide solutions, assess feasibility, and help identify technical and timeline risks in advance. This means addressing both client expectations and internal challenges. In other words, there are many opportunities to make a real impact—and many people will see the results of your work. In fact, one of the most common signs of success for an Infrastructure Specialist is when clients return and specifically request to work with the same person again. This is a project-based role that allows you to be deeply involved throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with architects, engineers, and project managers. Required Technical and Professional Experience

• Deep expertise in a specific technical area (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
• Experience working with enterprise IT applications
• Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: software development, DevOps engineering, systems administration, or system architecture in a public cloud environment (e.g., AWS)
• Strong knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
• Proven ability to drive engineering solutions and collaborate across multiple teams
• Solid experience and judgment in planning and achieving goals
• Ability to apply general principles to specific problems and determine appropriate actions
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
• Demonstrated experience in process improvement

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• In-depth knowledge of Amazon cloud hosting architecture; experience with AWS and Azure is a plus
• Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities
• Familiarity with a wide range of IT concepts, practices, and procedures
• Foundational knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used in creating technical plans, blueprints, and models
• Ability to logically evaluate alternative solutions and approaches, identifying strengths and weaknesses
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
