The OpportunityAs the Legal Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the Japan business, providing hands-on legal support and strategic guidance.
You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with Japanese laws and global standards, and help drive the company's growth in one of its most important markets.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being embedded in the business, someone who can think commercially, communicate clearly, and proactively manage risk.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead day-to-day legal operations, from contract drafting and negotiation to general legal guidance.
Handle a wide range of commercial agreements, including licensing, marketing, wholesale, sponsorship, and service contracts.
Advise business teams on consumer law, data privacy, commercial matters, and product liability.
Support product safety issues including consumer claims, injuries, and recalls.
Collaborate with regional/global Legal & Compliance teams and external counsel.
Improve legal processes, templates, and workflows to drive efficiency and compliance.
Deliver practical legal and compliance training to business teams.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Law (advanced legal degree a plus)
5+ years of experience as in-house counsel or in a reputable law firm
Solid experience in B2B legal work (B2C a bonus)
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Familiarity with Japanese regulations such as the Subcontract Act, Freelance Law, Product Liability Law, and consumer protection laws
Native-level Japanese and business-level English
A proactive, collaborative mindset, someone who partners with the business, not just advises it
