Department Overview
"Rakuten Bic" is the first-party entity in the home appliance category of the Rakuten Group, established as a joint venture through the collaboration between Rakuten Group, Inc. and BICCAMERA INC.. It operates as a comprehensive home appliance service on Rakuten Ichiba, aiming to provide a highly convenient shopping experience that transcends the boundaries between online and offline by leveraging the strengths of both companies.
The appeal of our department lies in the ability to experience the entire process of project management, from strategic planning for the entire business to release, with a sense of speed in a small team structure. Our mission is not only to improve services from the user's perspective but also to elevate the service level of the entire Rakuten Group and the businesses operating on Rakuten Ichiba.

Position Details
This position involves understanding the requirements and challenges of Rakuten Bic's business and development, defining requirements, formulating specifications, and leading the implementation and development of HTML/CSS/JavaScript for building and improving services and products. You will also be responsible for designing UX and UI improvements. In the future, you can aim for a Product Manager position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining development specifications and implementing front-end UI
- Conducting QA and implementation testing
- Designing reusable components with scalability in mind and creating style guides
- Proposing and implementing interactions to enhance the purchasing experience and improve service operation efficiency
- Proposing and implementing interactions to improve service operation efficiency
- Supporting coders with implementation and sharing skills within the team
Work Environment
The department consists of 10 members, with a team structure of 4 in business and 6 in creative roles, comprising 8 men and 2 women.
The team consists mostly of mid-career hires who leverage their previous experience and skills to develop and improve in-house services, aiming to provide customers with more convenient services.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Individuals who want to understand service challenges and user needs, take charge from planning to release, and directly experience business outcomes
- Over 5 years of practical experience in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Implementation experience using libraries/frameworks such as React, , TypeScript,
- Development using meta-languages like Pug and Sass
- Development using various build tools (e.g., Vite, webpack)
- Version control using Git
- Implementation of dynamic processing using APIs
- Team development experience with product managers/directors and designers
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as a Technical Director
- Deep understanding of front-end technical specifications
- Expertise in performance optimization
- Experience participating in projects from the requirements definition phase
- Management experience in front-end teams

After joining, you will be seconded to Rakuten Bic, Inc. Even after the secondment, benefits and welfare will remain mostly the same as those of Rakuten Group, Inc., with some minor differences.

TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country)
Proof of eligibility is required by the timing of the offer letter.
If no evidence is available to prove the qualifications denoted above, taking an IP test, organized by our company, during selection process is required.
