Ahead Group is looking for a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Data Engineer to join a globally recognized tech platform team. The successful candidate will contribute to designing and enhancing large-scale, cloud-native data systems, supporting advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making across business functions. This position is part of a cross-functional team enabling key platform stakeholders with reliable, scalable, and governed data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data warehouse solutions.
- Lead architecture discussions and implement robust data infrastructure supporting GCP environments.
- Ensure data quality and compliance through governance frameworks and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and align data initiatives with business needs.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of data visualization reports, from requirement gathering to delivery.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines using tools such as PubSub, BigQuery, DataFlow, Airflow, and related services.
- Build data-marts and data models for reporting and analytical consumption.
- Design and manage dashboards and reports using data visualization tools including DOMO, PowerBI, or Tableau.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including platform architecture, configurations, and data dictionaries.
- Stay up to date with data engineering trends, particularly cloud migrations (e.g., Hadoop to GCP).
- Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers and contribute to project planning and delivery.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including strong SQL skills and experience with Linux or cloud-based systems.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Python, and Shell scripting. Candidates with two or more GCP project implementations may also be considered.
- Proven background in data architecture design and implementation.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL pipelines, and integration techniques.
- Experience with cloud-based ETL components such as BigQuery, DataFlow, Cloud Storage, Glue, Redshift, Snowflake, and Airflow.
- Proficiency in using data visualization tools such as DOMO, PowerBI, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Ansible, or Concourse.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in statistical analysis or streaming data architectures (e.g., Apache NiFi, Kafka, Spark Streaming).
- Exposure to high-availability systems with strict SLOs/SLAs.
- Familiarity with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Presto.
- Knowledge of backend system architecture (e.g., Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Load Balancers).
- Experience contributing to open-source projects or participating in data competitions and hackathons.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and customer-centric thinking.
- Ability to lead initiatives and collaborate effectively within teams.
- Adaptability and a continuous learning mindset.
