This role is responsible for supporting the continuity and growth of the business in Asia Pacific (AP) by ensuring compliance with regional regulations applicable to the company's products and business activities. The position also involves advising the business on regulatory strategy.
Key responsibilities include executing transactional processes to ensure day-to-day regulatory compliance, such as import/export procedures related to raw materials, intermediates, and chemical/article finished products.
The role provides Product Stewardship & Regulatory (PS&R) support to both internal and external stakeholders, engages in regional advocacy, and contributes to the ongoing implementation and continuous improvement of product safety, hazard communication, and regulatory systems and processes.
The associate will also participate in the screening of new raw materials as part of the Management of Change (MOC) process, and will be responsible for providing regulatory approvals for new products, product extensions, and product translations.
- Provide essential business information to the Chemical Management Team to support Permission, License, and Registration (PLR) processes for specific markets and applications in Asia.
- Interface with relevant local and regional business functions to define PS&R needs, based on a clear understanding of business plans—particularly those related to business development and R&D.
- Offer compliance advice and guidance to ensure effective policies and procedures are developed and maintained, and recommend strategic approaches for new product development and regulatory registrations.
- Actively participate in and support Product and Application Risk Reviews, as applicable, and ensure alignment with Product Stewardship & Regulatory Standards and Responsible Care requirements.
- Support the review and approval process for Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labeling.
- Respond to routine customer inquiries using standardized processes and responses.
- Manage regulatory approvals for the introduction of new materials.
- Provide ongoing support to the business through guidance, training programs, and seminars as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, Environmental Science, Occupational Health Science, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of proven experience in the chemical industry, preferably in Product Stewardship & Regulatory Compliance, EHS, Occupational Safety, R&D, Quality Assurance, or Intellectual Property.
- In-depth knowledge of local and regional chemical regulations, including registration, labeling, and import/export requirements.
- Ability to balance chemistry-related topics with customer support and legal compliance.
- Skilled in facilitating cross-functional collaboration for problem-solving and solution development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus.
- Fluent in English, with the ability to actively participate in international calls, written communications, and presentations.
- Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, optimism, global team spirit, and self-motivation.
- Advocate for productivity improvement tools and continuous process enhancement.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP systems.
