Business Overview 

AI & Data Division lead to develop service platforms and products utilizing Rakuten group data and provide AI & Data consulting services to contribute to strengthen each business utilization. We are also leading companywide mid-long-term AI & Data strategy development and execution. 

Department Overview 

AI & Data Division General Management Office (AIGMO) is horizontal organization to manage overall division's various topics such as division managed services, financial budget and operation, division events, HR and so forth. We're conducting strategy planning and operating division wide topics in order to contribute to division's mission. 

Accounting Management Group is responsible for the overall budget management of the AI & Data Division. We accurately track and analyze all development-related costs, including personnel expenses, infrastructure, and depreciation of development assets. Through precise budget forecasting, we contribute to the profitability of the Division and various Rakuten business units. We actively support development managers with our financial expertise to maximize the Return on Investment (ROI) of each product.

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Planning & Analysis for our division: 

Lead agile budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring for the AI & Data Division

Conduct rapid variance analysis to identify key drivers and propose immediate, actionable solutions

- Strategic Cost Management: 

Proactively manage and analyze costs (e.g., personnel, cloud, data acquisition) for AI & Data projects, optimizing ROI

Perform quick profitability and efficiency analyses for new initiatives

- Impactful Reporting & Insights: 

Prepare and deliver concise, high-impact financial reports for executive leadership, facilitating swift strategic decisions

Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business insights

- Cross-functional Contribution: 

Actively collaborate with technical and business teams on various projects, bringing financial expertise

Mandatory Qualifications: 

- 3+ years of progressive experience in management accounting or FP&A, ideally within an IT, Tech, or AI/Data-focused environment

- Solid accounting fundamentals (e.g., Japanese Bookkeeping Level 2 or equivalent) and strong financial analysis skills

- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data modeling and analysis

- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities with speed, precision, and a highly adaptable mindset

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships across all levels

- Business-level proficiency in both written and spoken English and Japanese

Desired Qualifications: 

- Experience in IT development cost management, including software capitalization and ROI analysis

- Proficiency in financial data analysis; familiarity with FP&A/BI tools or quick learning ability

- Familiarity with IT project management processes and relevant tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) or proprietary tracking systems

- Understanding of financial models for AI/Data products/services
