An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a qualified commercial/IT/IP lawyer in Tokyo to work on a broad range of business matters requiring legal support. The successful candidate will act as advisor to, and interface and collaborate with, all levels of the sales community, as well as providing support to other functions within the organization (including the marketing and procurement groups) and working with other members of the Japan and Asia-Pacific legal team. We are a highly collaborative team and our mission is to play a key role in regional growth and give our business partners the best possible experience in working with Legal. The role involves drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of license, professional services and other commercial agreements and documents, including data processing agreements, resale, distribution, and procurement agreements. Providing general commercial legal support to the various business units, including supporting our internal deal desk on deal structuring, preparing and delivering training in-house, when appropriate, on key legal areas of interest. Keeping up with legal developments in region and ensuring that Adobe's agreements and business practices are in line with such developments. Participating in global cross-functional projects to drive efficiency improvements. Cooperating and working closely with other legal team members in Singapore, Australia, India, Korea and other countries. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Law or equivalent degree, be an Attorney-at-law qualified in Japan, and have about 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house. Proficient Japanese and English languages, including good oral and written communication skills and drafting skills. Experience and proficiency in technology licensing contracts, intellectual property law; and privacy or data protection is a plus. Have a keen interest in the software/IT industry. Operates with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. Be a great team player who is also able to self-start, as well as having a positive, problem solving, and business focused attitude with confidence to prioritize workload appropriately in a fast-paced environment. Be a great interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, which are essential to thrive in a global, multi-cultural environment. Able to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks.
