At Amazon, we are seeking a customer-focused and analytical leader to join the Books organization. We are looking for a Senior Supply Chain Manager who can own complex problems within Supply Chain and Operations team.
In this role, the candidate will work cross-functionally with teams to identify and launch initiatives aimed at improving the customer and vendor experience.

The mission for Supply Chain and Inventory Management team, which this role belongs to, is to satisfy our customers in Japan by providing the right products with the right quantities, in the right place, at the right time.

The supply chain of books industry in JP is in the turning point where industry is changing and there are abundant opportunities to make improvements for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate ownership of supply chain strategies to maximize sales, margin, and turns.
- Help build, manage, and optimize a complex supply chain including Buying/Ordering ecosystem.
- Define and execute plans to deliver supply chain efficiencies that reduce fixed and variable costs.
- Improve selection/inventory availability to provide best-in-class customer experience and maximize revenue and margin.
The role will cover all aspects of planning and operational management, including building an efficient and scalable supply chain operations, building direct sourcing strategy as well as improving vendors' performance.
Succeeding Candidate
The successful candidate must be highly organized, self-starting, and possess strong data extraction and analytical capabilities. They must demonstrate passion for the customer experience.
They must be fearless but thoughtful in their pursuit of results and thrive in a high-energy environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to succeed in managing complex supply chain effectively and efficiently, identifying problems/finding solutions, and building/improving processes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (Consulting management or supply chain experience).
- Native Japanese or JPLT N1.
- Business level English required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with statistics or other analytical techniques.
- Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines.
- Experience with improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
