The Company Financials team provides our clients with fast and accurate market-moving data, so they can stay on top of their game: broker estimates, financial filings, and any other dataset that is useful to understand financial performance in the markets. Our products run on intelligence and industry-specific insights provided by the industry teams. We combine financial modeling, industry expertise, data management, and technical skills to curate critical metrics and drive insights from our data.

We are dedicated to crafting a best-in-class financial analysis and modeling product while continuously looking to enhance and expand our existing offering through a deep understanding of the markets we operate in, the sectors we cover, and our clients current and future needs.

The Role
The Company Financials Industry team owns the data management and analysis for every sector, managing quality and timely delivery of content, while also growing our data offering. The team is looking for an Industry Data Analyst to cover a portfolio of companies within sectors such as Energy, Technology, Industrials, Real Estate, Healthcare and Financial Services in Asia.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the data for companies within your sector. You will be building financial models, creating technical solutions, modeling company data, defining key metrics, and researching alternative data to make sure that Bloomberg can offer a data product that is fit-for-purpose for our clients.

We'll Trust You To

• Own the data coverage of 30-50 companies
• Understand the workflow of equity researchers in the sector and build data solutions and improvements targeting client needs
• Take ownership of the quality of our data making sure it is fit-for-purpose for clients
• Build and leverage deep expertise of the sector (including datasets related datasets) to drive Bloomberg's sector-specific data strategy
• Make effective decisions in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
• Manage customer and stakeholder relationships relating to the sector
• Proactively support customers by helping them interpret data and predicting their follow up questions/needs
• Train and mentor team members

You'll Need To Have

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business, STEM or related field/equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Experience developing financial models using MS Excel/Python
• Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, financial modeling and industry analysis
• Excellent communication skills, allowing you to clearly communicate business needs in both English + Japanese
• Creative and flexible approach to problem solving, aided by strong data analysis skills
• Understanding of quality assurance and quality control from a data perspective
• Proven understanding of customer service and engagement

We'd Love To See

• Knowledge of statistical analysis and demonstrated applied data analysis skills
• Work experience and knowledge around data management principles and technologies such as data modeling, data analysis and statistics to tell a narrative and/or generate data-driven insights
• Master's degree in relevant field and/or CFA designation (or working towards it)
• Buy-or-sell side equity research experience
• Familiarity with analytics data and available industry statistics for a specific sector such as Energy, Tech, Financials Services, Real Estate, Health Care or Industrials
• Experience or knowledge in Bloomberg Company Financials products, Bloomberg terminal fluency, and/or Bloomberg data workflows
• Experience manipulating and wrangling large datasets
• Experience profiling datasets and coming up with necessary requirements
