We are continuously expanding our business and striving to improve the quality of our services daily to meet various user needs related to travel, such as a wide selection of accommodations, destination information, and inspirational content. Rakuten Travel re-released its inbound accommodation booking platform in 2022, providing a new and localized user journey for inbound travelers. Since then, Localization Group has grown to offer translation services in 9 languages. The scope of our work has also grown to include the inbound rent-a-car platform as well.

Position Details
As a specialist, you have a natural command of American English and will ensure that Rakuten Travel's products are commercially ready, accurate, and appealing to the target audience. In this position, you will follow the guidelines for the en-US language and work together with the Localization Group to ensure timely delivery of localized content at the expected level of quality.

Primary Responsibilities

• Translating from ja-JP into en-US
• Proofreading en-US content drafted by vendors/stakeholders
• Maintaining the quality of the target language
• Participating in initiatives to standardize and improve translations
• Communicating with relevant teams to ensure compliance

Example projects/tasks

• Translating new/updated information for hotels in Japan
• Proofreading feature articles on popular attractions in Tokyo
• Verifying geo data translations against official sites for SEO purposes

Mandatory Qualifications

• Native English speaker
• JLPT N2 certification or higher
• 1-2 years of experience translating/proofreading
• 1-2 years of experience using CAT tools
• Bachelor's Degree

• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
• Strong interest in travel
• 1-3 years of experience working in travel, hospitality, or e-commerce
• 1-3 years of experience writing localized copy
