This position is based at Narita International Airport, Japan.

Job overview and responsibilities

This role will partner with their HR and business leadership to build business acumen and implement HR programs. This role also provides pivotal support to the HR Business Partners (Field or Corporate) by partnering with them in aligning HR strategy with the business needs and goals. This role will assist with attracting and recruiting diverse talent, and works to provide employees with information on benefits, leadership resources and the support to be successful at United. Aids the development and administration of human resources policies, procedures and programs as they pertain to all non-US based personnel, in country. Serves as generalist for all the assigned countries HR matters. Delivers human resources services including, but not limited to: hiring, selection and retention of regional personnel. Serves as a consultant and advisor regarding salary and pay administration, benefits administration, training and performance, and issues resolution, in cooperation with other HR managers and directors. May be required to provide HR oversight /have responsibility for territory outside Japan.

  • Provide day to day HR support including leadership coaching, policy development, guidance and interpretation, and driving resolution to inquiries in assigned client groups, demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues. May support or conduct formal company investigations.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Provide data analysis and reports for HR/LR related information and all the other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for HR analysis and reporting of key people metrics. Assist in the creation or updating of job descriptions. Adhoc assistance on project executions of strategic initiatives.
  • Wage and salary administration program, counsel management in work regulations, transportation administrations, employee survey project manager.
  • Various training administration including site coordinator for Leadership Forum.

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of HR or equivalent work experience or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience overseeing represented employees in a union environment
  • HR business acumen - Able to diagnose problems and identify and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Collaboration – Working effectively and cooperatively with others; establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Communication - Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
  • Teamwork - Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals.
  • Execution – Translating strategic priorities into operational reality; aligning communication, accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office tools.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Japan for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Must be fluent in English and Japanese. (written and spoken)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
