Arai Group – Quantum Science & Technology

The Arai Group is recruiting outstanding researchers to join our team as Postdoctoral Researchers, Research Scientists, or Project Assistant Professors.

Our group explores how quantum science can be transformed from fragile laboratory phenomena into robust intellectual and technological infrastructure for society.

We work across quantum control, quantum sensing, diamond-based quantum devices, quantum materials, and quantum informatics, with strong connections to real-world deployment and interdisciplinary research.

Whom We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from researchers with strong backgrounds in areas such as (but not limited to):
Quantum physics, quantum optics, or quantum information science
Solid-state physics, spin physics, or quantum sensing
Quantum devices, electronics, or materials science
Applied physics, electrical engineering, or related fields

We are particularly interested in candidates who:
can drive research independently,
enjoy working at the interface of theory, experiment, and application, and
aim to shape the future of quantum science with high-impact scientific results.
Roles & Responsibilities

Depending on your position and experience, responsibilities may include:
Conducting independent and collaborative research
Designing and performing experiments or theoretical/numerical studies
Publishing results in leading international journals
Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
Contributing to proposal writing and international collaborations

For Project Assistant Professor / Research Scientist positions, additional responsibilities may include:
Leading sub-projects or research directions
Co-supervising students and junior researchers
Playing a key role in building new research initiatives

Qualifications

PhD in physics, engineering, or a closely related field (by start date)
Strong publication record or clear potential for high-impact research
Ability to work in an international research environment
Excellent communication skills in English
