About Recursive
As the world's population grows, we are facing a number of global challenges in the realms of environmental conservation, societal equity and ensuring that nobody is left behind in the transition to a digital economy. Artificial intelligence is a key technology to not only address some symptoms of these issues, but also helping create completely new innovative approaches that can create a more sustainable economy and lifestyle.
Recursive is an AI consulting company based in Japan working on developing solutions to some of these challenging problems. We collaborate with large Japanese enterprises to create innovative solutions to sustainability challenges, merging in our expertise in AI research and our client's domain knowledge. Our development projects focus around the main themes of improving efficiency, accelerating innovation, risk mitigation and better work and education.
Recursive is founded by Tiago Ramalho and Katsutoshi Yamada. Tiago was a Senior Research Engineer at Google Deepmind and Lead Research scientist at Cogent labs and brings years of machine learning expertise to the company. Katsutoshi is a serial entrepreneur and AI expert with experience in developing and establishing innovative business models in Japan and abroad.
Founded in 2020, we are now looking to grow and expand our impact further, building on previous successes. One of many initiatives we are currently pursuing is a system to optimize irrigation of peatlands in Indonesia, helping to prevent forest fires and maximize carbon absorption. The role
As a Senior Researcher or Engineer at Recursive you will be working on state of the art AI research and development projects. We expect ~5 years of quality experience to be a good benchmark. You'd have enough experience working as a professional Machine Learning Engineer to have a broad base of knowledge to work from while being deep enough in one or two areas to solve unique problems as more than an individual contributor.
We are looking for motivated people who are eager to learn, as well as experienced team contributors who can add their experience to the team's knowledge.
The ideal candidate would:
- Have background in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g. Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Computer Science, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering, etc).
- Have sufficient experience in Machine Learning in a professional capacity in order to know the ins-and-outs of the job.
- Have experience in mentoring small teams in the Machine Learning context.
- Have a basic understanding of programming and a willingness to learn more.
- Have the drive to learn new topics and improve existing methods and processes.
- Be passionate about the latest developments in the AI field.
- Want their work to have a positive impact on society and the environment.
