General Purpose

This position will lead procurement-related activities in Japan with a purchasing spend of 150-200MUSD, collaborating with internal team members and APAC sourcing team. Responsibilities include overseeing procurement processes and governance, operational efficiency and improvement, cost reduction, cash enhancement, capital management, supplier base optimization, supplier management, quality and delivery support, and enhancing service levels with suppliers to achieve procurement goals in Japan, contributing to business growth and meeting business leaders' and stakeholders' expectations.

Job Requirements

  • Support department members as the purchasing department manager.
  • Collaborate with purchasing department members and related departments to develop purchasing strategies tailored to the business, execute action plans aligned with the strategies to create department value.
  • Optimize the supply chain in collaboration with SCM and others.
  • Contribute to the company's P&L by advancing productivity and cash flow improvements as part of the purchasing department.
  • Participate in large projects as a representative of the purchasing department, contributing to the management of each transaction and margin improvements.
  • Negotiate necessary contracts and supply conditions with vendors.
  • Collaborate with APAC material teams to enhance service levels required by Japanese businesses.
  • Lead governance and compliance related to purchasing activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and Japanese regulations.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including relationship maintenance and performance management, conduct business reviews with assigned vendors on a planned basis.
  • Identify improvement activities based on clarified procurement needs, execute these activities to continually enhance performance.
  • Analyze market information related to supplier bases to discover new suppliers supporting business growth.
  • Drive change, actively lead transformation, and promote procurement transformation in Japan.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or sufficient work experience, MBA is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of purchasing experience, or experience in BEMS, electrical, or construction industries.
  • Experience working with multinational companies, general contractors, subcontractors is a plus.
  • Experience in project management, purchasing category management, engineering sourcing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cost-saving methods and procurement-related tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of procurement-related laws, financial knowledge, practical knowledge of contract-related matters is a plus.
