Department Overview
The EC Consulting Department is the frontline division providing comprehensive support to Rakuten Ichiba merchants, including advice for achieving sales targets, advertising proposals, market analysis, and product planning.

The Project Management Office (PMO) we are recruiting for now stands apart from typical administrative/support-type PMOs.

We formulate data-driven growth strategies for Rakuten Ichiba as a whole, planning and executing cross-platform promotions, leading mid-to-long-term projects, and developing data utilization support tools for merchants—covering a broad spectrum of decision-making and execution.

Position Details
In this role, you will leverage Rakuten Ichiba's vast data to build and operate a data analytics infrastructure directly tied to business growth, and to conduct strategic data analysis.

Primary Responsibilities

• Data Analytics Infrastructure Development and Operations:
• Tool development and maintenance (databases, BI dashboards, etc.) to accelerate data-driven decision-making
• Collaboration and negotiations with external data vendors
• System optimization through close coordination with internal development teams
• Strategic Data Analysis:
• Multifaceted analysis of purchase data, traffic data, market trends, etc., essential for formulating new business strategies and marketing initiatives
• Responding to data extraction and research requests from business units, providing insights

Specific Project Examples

• Design, maintenance, and operation of data marts for market analysis
• Data analysis for business strategy formulation
• Systematization of data reporting utilizing AI
• AI predictive model design projects in collaboration with specialized departments

Mandatory Qualifications

• Expertise in data pipeline development and ETL processes
• Practical experience in big data processing using Python or similar languages
• Skills and practical experience in SQL query performance tuning, including table design and query optimization
• Practical experience in data aggregation and analysis using BI tools such as Tableau
• Understanding of fundamental cloud computing mechanisms

Desired Qualifications

• Understanding of AI and generative AI concepts, along with the data requirements necessary for their implementation
• Practical experience in AI/ML model development and the associated data pipeline construction
• Practical experience in web access analytics
• Practical experience in business process optimization utilizing programming languages such as Python
