Your Role:
  • Japan Legal Manager
Responsibilities:
  • Team up with Division Counsel and other members of the global legal team to provide legal advice smoothly to the business
  • Prepare, review, and offer guidance on contracts, such as sales agreements, procurement agreements, and confidentiality agreements
  • Supervise outside counsel in lawsuits, disputes, and other legal matters
  • Collaborate with parent company employment counsel to guide the human resources department on employment issues
  • Participate in or support investigations under the guidance of Division Counsel or other global legal team members
  • Provide legal and compliance training to the business
  • Establish rapport with clients, understand the business, and gain the status of a trusted advisor
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with external counsel capable of addressing expected legal issues across various domains
  • Comprehend and apply both the company's and the legal department's visions
  • Stay updated on significant legal developments, evaluate their impact on the business, and communicate with relevant business stakeholders
  • Continuously seek ways to enhance the delivery of legal services
Requirements (Basic Qualifications):
  • Fluency in English and Japanese, both spoken and written, with the ability to handle legal documents in either language
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a legal capacity
  • Background in the legal department of a multinational corporation
  • Highest level of integrity
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Confidence in presenting views in executive environments
  • Understanding of fundamental business and commercial principles and practices
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Japanese: Native proficiency level
  • English: Fluent with the ability to work with Legal Documents in English
