Description
Rakuten focuses on expanding Rakuten Symphony business that provides to global customers our fully virtualized cloud native mobile network established in Japan, in addition to operating mobile network business, which is the key strategic area of the Rakuten group. We are hiring new members that supports intellectual property activities in our mobile network operator business and Rakuten Symphony business.
Job Summary
We are looking for a talented individual to join our Intellectual Property team as a Trademark Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing trademark portfolios in global business expansion and domestic mobile network operator business. You will also review press releases, advertisement media, user manuals, etc. from the viewpoint of intellectual property and contract reviews from the standpoint of intellectual property.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish trademark portfolio in global business expansion and domestic mobile network operator business (trademarks investigation, filing and prosecution of trademark applications, opposition, detection of and response to others' infringement)
- Review press releases, advertisement media, user manuals, etc. from the viewpoint of intellectual property
- Contract review from the standpoint of intellectual property

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Experience in Trademark Filing and Prosecution
- Experience in Trademark Clearance
- TOEIC score 800 (or higher) or Business-level English (A speaking and listening comprehension is needed.)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in intellectual property contracts, trademark licensing or coexistence agreement, etc.
- Experience in reviewing press releases, advertisement media, user manuals, etc. from the viewpoint of intellectual property
- Qualified lawyer/patent attorney/patent agent
- Certified Specialist of Intellectual Property Management (1st grade)
- Experience living in an English-speaking country. Results of TOEFL, IELTS, EIKEN, etc. are preferred
- Business-level Japanese

$100,000 - $150,000 per year
