Japan RENOVA / レノバ ¥4,000,000 - ¥6,000,000 per year

Q1: What kind of work have you been involved in up to now?

Joining RENOVA marks my third career move, and I finally feel that I've found a workplace with a true sense of community.

Before joining RENOVA, I spent approximately 13 years in the investment division of a bank, working on domestic and international investments (PE and NPL), as well as loans (PF), including their execution and management. I was also involved in planning and implementing capital ratio improvement strategies. After leaving the banking industry, I contributed to projects such as establishing a high school and planning operational improvements using IT at a private educational institution.
Since joining RENOVA in 2024, I've been responsible for the financing operations of international projects.

In collaboration with teammates who possess diverse skill sets, we work together as one team to tackle challenges, solve problems, and turn projects into reality. I leverage my prior experience to support the team financially, analyzing business risks, proposing solutions, and negotiating loans.

When you hear "finance," you may imagine submitting reports to financial institutions for evaluation and raising funds (borrowing money) for specific projects. While that is indeed one aspect of the job, RENOVA's distinguishing feature lies in "development."
As a development company, we start from projects that are still in their early, undefined stages and move forward. Since nothing is set in stone from the start, the possibilities are endless.

However, during the development process, unexpected events frequently occur. These events vary in nature—some may have adverse effects, while others may significantly enhance profitability. This situation is akin to a "surprise box" of possibilities. At such times, we collaborate with the technical team to address challenges in design or engineering, which are usually outside our expertise, and turn the project into something tangible.

Additionally, RENOVA is actively exploring new markets and ventures, each with its own unique challenges. RENOVA fosters an environment that welcomes ideas and proposals, allowing team members to take on challenges with a certain degree of autonomy. We gather information as a team, exchange opinions, deepen understanding, and advance project development together.

Q2: Why did you choose Renova?

During my university years, I interned at a U.S. energy venture capital firm, sparking my interest in the energy sector. Later, I utilized the skills I acquired in banking to bring value to those around me while working at a private educational institution. This experience brought me joy and fostered my pursuit of environments where I could deliver "value" to others or contribute to such efforts. It was during this journey that I fatefully encountered RENOVA.

The deciding factor for joining RENOVA was "people." Before joining, I had no clear understanding of the environment or the colleagues I would be working with. However, communication during interviews and the nature of questions conveyed a strong emphasis on "team" consciousness. Additionally, during conversations among interviewers, I sensed a mutual respect for each other as they worked to advance the business. After joining, my understanding of "team" turned into conviction as I enjoyed working with my colleagues daily while striving for project success.

The concept of "team" extends beyond project teams to encompass all RENOVA employees. There is an environment for open communication, and it's not uncommon to engage in lighthearted chats whenever time permits.

Q3: What are the characteristics of RENOVA? (Good points, things you are proud of, things you are satisfied with, etc.)

I believe the key elements are "people" and "the attitude of people toward the business."

Of course, aspects such as focusing on renewable energy business development, technological innovations, and the accumulation of advanced know-how are important. However, the foundation of these is the "people" who actively engage in projects, develop solutions, and promote the business with passion. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds, each contributing their unique perspectives toward achieving project success. They collaborate and support one another, enhancing and complementing each other's strengths. While roles are defined, we transcend boundaries, respecting and exchanging ideas while working toward project success.

Even in a remote work environment, the company encourages proactive communication through one-on-one meetings, which I find significant.

RENOVA tailors talent development to department-specific characteristics, but fostering human resource development is a shared priority across the organization. As one of my personal goals, I focus on building a robust talent structure.
We support employees to fully utilize the work environment to acquire specialized skills and knowledge. Furthermore, I encourage them to go beyond their areas of responsibility, deepen their understanding of related tasks, broaden their perspectives to grasp project details, environmental factors, and regional conditions, and grow into individuals capable of performing appropriate analyses and making sound judgments.

Ultimately, we aim to establish a highly-regarded brand known as the "RENOVA family."
