Opportunity

Head of Data & AI / Chief Data Officer (CDO) plays a vital role in the senior leadership team, responsible for setting and executing the Data Strategy and Data Policy to transform the organization into a data-centric entity. The CDO is also tasked with driving business value from data and AI, ensuring the proper implementation of the Data Governance Framework.

Role

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and enacting a comprehensive data strategy to exploit data assets for business value, enhance customer experience, and boost the company's competitive edge.
  • Collaborating with business leaders to identify and deliver new data-driven opportunities for growth, efficiency, and enhanced customer experience.
  • Fostering a data-centric culture that uses data and analytics for decision-making and business impact.
  • Establishing a data management strategy aligned with the Group Data Strategy and local business and IT objectives.
  • Ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset and maintaining data quality across all Systems/Environments.
  • Updating the Data and AI Governance framework, policies, and procedures to comply with industry regulations.
  • Implementing a data and AI literacy program to equip employees with necessary skills and knowledge for effective data utilization.
  • Building and managing teams effectively.

Skills and Experience

Skills and qualifications should ideally include:

  • Strong leadership abilities and experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences in English and Japanese.
  • Proven track record in leading successful data and AI initiatives, with a focus on strategy implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to apply data-driven insights to business challenges.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools like Python, SQL, Hadoop, and similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, including building and validating models for deriving insights.
  • Degrees in relevant fields and expertise in data management technologies.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations.

Key Stakeholders

The Chief Data Officer will closely interact with:

  • Chief Operations Officer: Reports directly to the COO.
  • Head of Business: Understanding business needs and concerns.
  • Chief Compliance Officer: Consultation on data governance and regulations.
  • Chief Marketing Officer: Collaboration on data strategy for customer experience enhancement.
  • Group & APAC Data team: Regular communication for comprehensive data strategy.
  • Local business SMEs: Addressing local challenges together.
  • Local IT teams: Enhancing data governance and platform maturity.
  • Data scientists: Leveraging data for business growth.
  • Other local management.

The CDO interacts significantly with local and global executives, demanding a strong commitment to deliver effectively.
