Summary

QuEra Computing Japan is seeking a qualified candidate to lead a team of researchers to develop algorithms and applications specialized to neutral atom quantum hardware. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of projects with Japanese companies, academic institutions, and government labs by being the technical lead for a team of researchers. This includes taking the lead in creatively prototyping cutting-edge algorithms, identifying "killer applications", and developing solutions pipelines that drive quantum computing towards practical utility. You will also collaborate with the sales team to identify and follow through on promising leads and collaborations. You will lead your team in delivering positive outcomes to companies through writing scientific papers, presenting results, and writing codebases that leverage neutral atom hardware. The projects will be as diverse as the Japanese quantum ecosystem, from finance and operations research to chemical simulation and generative machine learning.

QuEra Computing is the leader in neutral atom quantum computing and is a front runner in the race towards utility-scale quantum computing. In this role, you will be at the cutting edge of quantum computing development. Your contributions and ideas will help steer QuEra and the entire field to practical quantum utility.

Responsibilities

  • Technical owner of projects delivered for customers in Japan and the surrounding regions
  • Identify key opportunities for collaboration and projects in conjunction with the sales team
  • Evaluate the success of projects against their aims, goals, and objectives
  • Lead a team of 3-5 researchers in Japan
  • Represent QuEra at conferences and events
  • All of these responsibilities will be executed in collaboration with the teams in the US headquarter in Boston. During the onboarding process, the person is expected to spend time in Boston to learn and integrate with the team in the US headquarter.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in applied mathematics, computer science, or quantum physics, or equivalent professional experience
  • Leadership in quantum algorithm development demonstrated through an exceptional scientific publication record in relevant fields
  • In-depth understanding and relationships with the Japanese quantum ecosystem
  • A proven ability to technically lead a team of 3-5 researchers
  • Experience with technical project management
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English and Japanese

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in quantum optimization, machine learning, simulation, or quantum foundations
  • Experience with running algorithms on quantum devices
  • Experience with near-term quantum error correction
  • Experience with neutral-atom quantum computing
  • Proficiency in Python

QuEraでは中性原子の量子コンピュータのハードウェアに特化たアルゴリズムとアプリケーションを開発する研究者のチームを率いることができる人材を募集しています。この役職においては、研究者のチームを技術的に率いて日本の企業、大学、国立研究所とともにプロジェクトを実行していただきます。これには最先端のアルゴリズムを創造的な形で試作すること、いわゆるキラーアプリケーションを見つけ出すこと、量子コンピュータを実用的に使えるようにするソリューションのパイプラインの開発を主導することが含まれます。また、営業のチームと共同で有力な指導者や共同研究を特定し、やり遂げることも求められます。チームが中性原子の量子コンピュータのハードウェアを活用するために企業に対して科学論文を書き、結果を発表し、プログラミングの基礎を書くことで肯定的な結果を出すことを主導します。プロジェクトは日本の量子エコシステムに応じて金融や経営戦略から生成機械学習まで多岐にわたります。

* 日本の3-5人の研究者のチームを率いる 

* QuEraの代表者として会議やイベントに出席 

* 全ての職務はボストンのアメリカ本社のチームと共同で行われます。入社後の研修期間中には、米国ボストンのQuEra本社での一定期間の滞在を通じて社内全体との関係を構築し、業務内容を学んでいただきます。 

応募資格 

* 数学、コンピュータサイエンス、量子物理学、ないし関連分野での博士号を有すること。 

* 関連する分野の査読付き論文に裏付けられた量子アルゴリズムの開発分野における業績があること。 

* 日本の量子エコシステムに対する深い理解と関係があること。 

* 3-5人の研究者のチームを技術的に率いる、裏付けのある能力。 

* 技術的なプロジェクトを管理した経験があること。 

* 他分野にわたるチームと効果的に協力した経験があること。 

* 口頭、文書による高いコミュニケーションスキルがあること。 

* 日本語と英語に流暢であること。 

望ましい資格 

* 量子最適化、機械学習、シミュレーション、ないし量子力学の基礎の専門知識があること。 

* 量子デバイスにおいてアルゴリズムを走らせた経験があること。 

* 近い将来の量子誤り訂正の経験があること。 

* 中性原子型量子コンピュータの取り扱い経験があること。 

* Pythonを使えること。
