The Role

The Wellness Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the fitness center, pool, and wellness facilities, ensuring they reflect the brand's commitment to holistic wellbeing, safety, and exceptional guest service. This role blends operational management with active guest engagement — leading a team of Wellness Attendants while personally delivering inspiring fitness and wellness experiences.

With professional expertise in fitness training, the Wellness Supervisor designs and conducts personalized one-on-one sessions, dynamic small-group classes, and holistic wellness activities that reflect the 1 Hotels and Bamford Wellness Spa philosophy.

Duties, Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Supervise daily operations of the fitness center, pool, and wellness areas to ensure they meet brand, safety, and service standards. Lead, train, and motivate Wellness Attendants to deliver exceptional guest service and uphold operational excellence. Design and lead personal training sessions, providing guests with individualized fitness guid-ance tailored to their goals and abilities. Conduct group fitness classes such as stretching, strength training, or functional workouts in alignment with guest needs and brand programming.

  • Monitor guest activity to ensure safe and effective use of fitness equipment and facilities. Provide professional wellness consultations and recommend appropriate services or programs. Coordinate and assist with special wellness events, retreats, and collaborative sessions with lo-cal partners. Oversee daily facility inspections, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and adherence to safety protocols. Manage staff schedules, attendance, and task assignments to ensure smooth daily operations. Maintain inventory of fitness and pool supplies; report maintenance needs promptly. Support the Director of Spa in implementing SOPs, training materials, and operational stand-ards. Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of Wellness team members. Contribute to the creation of a positive, inclusive, and motivating wellness environment for guests and staff alike.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a luxury wellness, spa, or fitness environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role. Certified Personal Trainer / Group Fitness Instructor Proven experience conducting personal training sessions and group classes Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop team members. Knowledge of exercise physiology, equipment use, injury prevention, and safety standards. Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for wellness and sustainability. Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays. CPR / First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain). Proficiency in English and Japanese preferred.
