The position will be responsible for supporting and assisting general legal issue, contract, leasing, operations, marketing, privacy and compliance, as needed.
The position will support and assist the Legal Director in Gap Japan's Tokyo office and will manage level appropriate legal work under supervision as necessary as well as collaboration with International Legal teams and coordination with outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives
Support legal advice, research, due diligence, as needed or directed by the Legal Director or International Legal team.
Support the Brand Marketing teams on advertising and marketing clearance, pricing, sales and discount offers, contests and sweepstakes, and other promotions matters.
Coordinate response to complaints and investigations involving product and store safety issues.Support the Real Estate Leasing/Store Design team for negotiation of retail leases, construction, related documents, and dispute landlord issue.
Support store complaint issues.
Support compliance issue, research new/updated law.
Support process administration for commercial and other contracts.
Handle level appropriate legal work for certain routine commercial transactions, lease and marketing-related matters as determined in coordination with business partners, the Legal Director and Corporate legal team.
Support privacy matters.Support, plan and provide legal trainings (e.g. privacy, marketing, customer claim etc.)..
Support Japan Legal director in handling and managing legal issues, dispute or litigation. .
Support invoice and legal fee payment process for Japan.
Support Japan legal administrative work.
Key Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: commercial contract administration, review and negotiation support, advertising, marketing, and promotions issue
Proven ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders and business partners as well as ideally with international legal and business teams
Excellent judgement and strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, Able to identify legal and reputational issues
Potential and willingness to learn and grow
Japanese:
Native level
English:
Proficient in written and spoken
Excellent communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
Able to effectively prioritize work and handle multiple assignments
Flexibility and positive attitude as role develop and changes with business needs
Over 5 years of work experience in legal
