About the Role
Reporting to the CFO of Japan, this role is part of the Business Control division and responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide accurate financial reporting, control, and analysis in order to support strategic decision-making across the business and ensure compliance with both internal policies and local regulatory requirements.
What you will be doing
- Lead and manage the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls and policies to mitigate risk and enhance operational efficiency within the accounting function.
- Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports to support strategic business decisions.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in partnership with the wider Finance and Business Control teams.
- Collaborate with business units across logistics and product management to align financial objectives and reporting requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within accounting processes through automation and adoption of best practices.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during financial audits and reviews, facilitating a smooth and effective process.
- Ensure compliance with Japanese GAAP, IFRS where applicable, and local tax regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards changes.
The successful candidate
Essential
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Extensive experience in accounting roles with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese accounting standards and familiarity with IFRS.
- Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate with external auditors, and drive financial reporting excellence.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese to work effectively in a multinational environment.
- Proficient with accounting software and ERP systems
- An aptitude for embracing new technologies to improve processes.
Desirable
- Professional accounting certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA) is a plus
- Previous working experience in logistics or supply chain field
