Detailed roles & responsibilities:

  • Create a preliminary RF design
  • Design a link budget including but not limited to the path loss & cell radius on a theoretical basis using the planning tools. This will provide the maximum allowable path loss & will help to calculate the cell radius within a specified cluster.
  • On the basis of the arrived cell radius, the design engineer will calculate the number of sites required within a cluster on a theoretical basis.
  • Carry out the CW measurement per clutter & model tuning.
  • Create a Nominal Planning
  • Incorporate the existing active cells and friendly site database from local operator including site co-ordinates, height & azimuth of antennas during the planning of the new site/sector addition/carrier/technologies/Pico cells etc.
  • Gather all the details of the new cells addition which are planned to be incorporated in the design
  • Input from customer team for any hotspot sites
  • Create a search ring to be released to the survey teams
  • Carry out a coverage prediction for the new site/sector/carrier/technologies with details like coverage, quality as well as traffic, loading before finalizing addition in network.
  • Create the final RF design
  • Incorporate the recommendation from the site survey, construction & engineering teams in the final RF design.
  • Create preliminary RFDS (Radio Frequency Data Sheet) based on pre-defined template.
  • Update work orders if applicable.
  • Track site progress and provide weekly progress update.
  • Attend meeting with Site Development Group, Construction and RF engineering as needed.
  • Review drawing depicting the new site configuration and red-line discrepancies that deviates from preliminary RFDS.
  • Verify the sites RF configurations in planning tool, Database updated with accurate information.
  • Update final RFDS after red-line discrepancies are incorporated in the design
  • Modify plumbing diagrams based on site requirement and attach it to the RFDS.
  • Provide RAN equipment details as per the customer selected RAN vendor
  • Work with Rakuten RF Team to standardize golden parameter for initial configuration.
  • Implementing baseline parameter, Parameter /Configuration Audit, suggesting parameter changes to improve the KPI's and counters.
  • Daily Monitoring, Analysis, Troubleshooting Key KPIs for LTE and Volte.
  • RF tuning & troubleshooting using Drive test logs analysis for SSVT, Cluster Optimization and Acceptance.
  • UE trace analysis and parameter recommendations to Improve Major KPI (Accessibility, Retainability, Mobility, Throughput)
  • Parameter/Configuration Audit and changes parameter to improve network performance.
  • Parameter and feature trail to improve major KPI, traffic balancing, Mass Event Handling.
  • SON parameter tuning to improve Mobility KPIs and traffic balancing.
  • Trace analysis.
  • Coverage and Quality Improvement at Hotspot, Highway, Major stations and handling VIP Complaints.

Qualifications:

  • Good experience in RF planning - Outdoor Design, Link Budget,
  • Good at strategy - Spectrum /#Sites /Radio HW req for forecasted subs/future growth plans
  • Detailed understanding of vRAN architecture, ORAN, Radio Products
  • Excellent understanding on Radio KPIs, counters, parameters, features
  • Good exposure to any one of the Radio planning tools (Atoll, Planet, Asset etc.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in RF Design & Optimization.
  • Detailed understanding of vRAN architecture, Open RAN principles & RAN automation.
  • Excellent understanding on Radio KPIs, counters, parameters & must have the ability to perform feature trials, worst cell analysis & issue Root cause analysis
  • Good knowledge on call flows (User & Signalling) & must have the ability to troubleshoot RAN issues in the network.
  • Good exposure to any one of the Radio planning tools (Atoll, Planet, Asset etc.)
  • Must have the experience in working with any one of the CEM/geo location tools
  • Must be a fast learner, motivated & willing to work longer hours if required
  • Ability to perform Drive tests using third party tools & analyse the same(Coverage Analysis,L3 message analysis etc)
