Project Overview

A leading multinational pharmaceutical company, Roche, is executing a high-profile global SAP program focused on Sales & Distribution (SD) and Materials Management (MM).

This role will act as the primary bridge between the Japan office and Roche's global headquarters for all SD/MM-related activities during the Requirement Definition through Design phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, structure, and document business requirements for SD and MM workstreams with Japan business stakeholders.
  • Lead Requirement Definition activities, including Fit & Gap analysis between Roche's global SAP template and Japan local business/legal requirements.
  • Design end-to-end business process flows (Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Intercompany, logistics, etc.) and corresponding SAP SD/MM solution architecture.
  • Facilitate and lead workshops, interviews, and design discussions with business users and global process owners.
  • Translate Japan-side requirements into clear, actionable specifications for global design and build teams (English documentation).
  • Align and negotiate solution options with global teams in the US, EU, and Singapore, ensuring consistency with global standards while addressing local needs.
  • Support creation of functional specifications for enhancements, interfaces, conversions, and reports related to SD/MM.
  • Collaborate closely with other functional teams (FI/CO, PP, QM, logistics, regulatory) to ensure integrated end-to-end process design.
  • Provide expert input on SAP best practices for Pharma / Life Sciences, compliance, and controls within SD/MM.
  • Prepare and review key project deliverables (BRD, process flows, configuration documents, gap logs, RICEFW lists, etc.).
  • Support test planning for later phases (SIT/UAT) by defining scenarios and acceptance criteria, as needed from an upstream perspective.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience as an SAP SD/MM functional consultant.
  • Strong track record on large-scale global SAP implementations or rollouts, ideally with Pharma or Life Sciences clients.
  • Deep expertise in:
  • SD: Order management, pricing, delivery, billing, shipping, intercompany, rebates/discounts.
  • MM: Purchasing, inventory management, goods movements, stock transfers, vendor management.
  • Solid experience in Requirement Definition, Fit-Gap analysis, and solution design (not only configuration/support).
  • Experience interfacing with global CoEs or template teams and local business units.
  • S/4HANA experience is highly preferred.
