A leading global financial institution is seeking a Director, Business Compliance to provide senior-level CFCC (Conduct, Financial Crime & Compliance) advisory support to its Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business in Japan.
This role is responsible for setting compliance strategy, providing effective oversight and challenge, and partnering with senior stakeholders to support sustainable business growth within regulatory and risk appetite frameworks.
Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute the CFCC advisory strategy for the CIB business in line with country, regional, and group objectives
Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing guidance, oversight, and challenge on compliance, conduct, and financial crime risks
Partner closely with business, risk, legal, and operations teams on complex transactions, new products, and strategic initiatives
Advise on regulatory matters, remediation activities, and cross-border projects
Establish and maintain robust, risk-based compliance frameworks, policies, and monitoring programs
Identify, assess, and escalate material compliance risks, breaches, and issues, ensuring timely remediation
Lead, coach, and develop compliance professionals, fostering a strong risk and conduct culture
Engage with regulators, internal audit, and governance committees as required

Ideal Profile
Extensive experience in compliance, conduct, or financial crime within corporate or investment banking
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks
Proven ability to operate at senior leadership level and effectively challenge business stakeholders
Experience leading teams and managing senior internal and external relationships
