Senior Backend Roles at International Companies in Japan
■ Backend Engineer

■ Your Role and Responsibilities
● Develop and maintain backend services using both Kotlin and Perl, with a focus on transitioning legacy code to Kotlin.
● Drive the design and implementation of scalable, user-facing features on the server side.
● Lead architectural planning to ensure systems are efficient, adaptable, and well-structured.
● Ensure backend services meet high standards of availability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
● Promote best practices in software development and operational processes within the team.
● Mentor and support team members in technical implementation and problem-solving.
● Collaborate cross-functionally and contribute to code and design reviews to uphold code quality and consistency.
● Actively support the modernization of existing systems by facilitating incremental migration strategies.
■ Experience and Qualifications
● Over 5 years of experience in developing and maintaining server-side applications.
● Skilled in incident response and issue resolution within production environments.
● Proficient in working with scalable data storage solutions, particularly MySQL.
● Solid understanding of core computer science principles and system architecture.
● Effective communicator with business-level proficiency in English (written) and either English or Japanese (verbal).
■ Additional Preferred Qualifications
● Hands-on experience in Kotlin development, JVM application tuning, and performance monitoring.
● Proficient in building and deploying applications in Kubernetes-based environments.
● Proven ability to lead, mentor, or manage technical teams to drive effective software development.
