The Role
As the Accounting Lead, you will oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations in Japan. You will be responsible for monthly/annual closing, financial reporting, and strengthening internal controls for a luxury retail environment. You will work closely with HQ and regional teams, ensuring compliance with global standards while supporting business growth.
This role also plays a key part in ERP implementation, process optimization, and enhancing transparency across financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing
Handle all accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, fixed assets, tax coordination)
Prepare financial statements and reporting packages for regional/global HQ
Lead ERP implementation / migration and drive process improvements
Maintain internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness
Partner with retail operations to support store performance and business decisions
Supervise external partners (accounting firm, tax advisors, auditors)
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management
Your Skills
Native-level Japanese with business English capability
Solid experience in accounting or controllership, ideally within retail, luxury, cosmetics, or consumer goods
Strong knowledge of JGAAP; experience coordinating with global teams preferred
Proven ability to manage full closing independently
Experience in ERP implementation (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.) is highly valued
Detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills
Ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate with non‑finance stakeholders
Proactive, structured, and able to operate in a growing organization
