About the Team:

The team is a hands-on, cross-functional group that safeguards product quality by working closely with suppliers from development through mass production. They combine strong technical know-how with proactive supplier development, problem-solving, and process improvement to ensure smooth launches and stable performance. Collaboration, continuous improvement, and high standards (IATF, APQP/PPAP) define how the team operates every day.

What you can look forward to as Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Manage supplier quality activities for new product launches and current production in alignment with APQP and PPAP requirements.
  • Lead supplier development, qualification, and problem resolution processes to ensure robust manufacturing and quality systems at suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier audits (process, system, product) to ensure compliance with IATF16949 and ZF standards.
  • Evaluate and approve PPAP submissions ensuring timely launch readiness.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implementation of effective corrective actions for supplier quality issues (8D, 5Why, etc.).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design changes, cost reduction, and localization projects while ensuring product quality.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and initiate improvement plans where needed.
  • Support escalation management with suppliers and implement sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Other general quality engineering role.

Your Profile as Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Supplier Development within the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive quality tools and standards (IATF16949, VDA6.3 audits, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA). Certified VDA6.3 Auditor or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English (Written and Oral)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5Why, fishbone chart).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage suppliers and drive improvements.
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of SAP and quality management systems is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
